Ghostbusters (2016) Trailer

  1. This should be a lot of fun. I didn’t hate that the new cast was going to be all women. I hated that they were going to do what they were calling a reboot of one of the best movies ever, one where the sequel almost killed the entire thing. This looks a lot different, and is paying homage to the original; I can live with it.

  2. I’m going to actually comment here, not Facebook. Great quick piece, getting it out when you did, and I’m glad it’s to the point instead of all over the place.

    What I’m happy about:

    – New cast. I’m a fan of McCarthy, even in her dumber moments. She seems to fit into Akyroyd’s Ray, almost the blatant comic foil, but classy about it.

    – I’m giving Jones the benefit of the doubt. I hope she’s not overly boisterous where it takes away from her character.

    – I hate to say this, because I’ve never applauded CGI, but the animation is pretty and clean. Slimer espcially looks as how I remember him.

    – The lead-in with the piano rendition could make one believe there could be darker elements. However, it may be a ploy. If we hadn’t known about the movie or cast, this could have been different — a red herring. With consideration with what was released leading up to the trailer, perhaps there is more eeriness.

    What I’m wary:

    – It really is a 50/50 chance they could screw this up, and the acting could be eye-rolling.

    – The antagonist cannot be another Vigo. Judging by the “science” involved, the antagonist has to have a clear motive, be cunning and have a more natural evil. Having someone create energy to entice spirits sounds iffy.

I’ll probably see it. Regardless if I enjoy it or I find it OK, it looks like a fun ride.
